It’s the Sneezy Season … but My Kids Can’t Take Pills and Nothing Else Relieves Their Symptoms!
I don’t know about you, but fall is the worst season for my kids and their allergies. As the leaves change colors and fall off the trees, the mold takes hold, and they start sneezing and coughing and get all congested. It’s not just my kids suffering; these “allergy colds” spread through their schools like wildfire – and speaking of wildfire, there is one burning nearby sending smoke and ash into the neighborhood making their allergies even worse. It’s a double whammy!
Off to the store I went in search of some medicine to help ease their allergy symptoms. Unfortunately, both kids have a terrible time taking pills, so I found some liquid medication I thought would work. It didn’t. They complained about the taste and refused to take it. Now what?
I went back to the store and asked the pharmacist for his advice on what to do. He didn’t have a solution, at least not one I hadn’t tried before – like crushing pills up into pudding or mixing liquid medication with something else to try to mask the flavor. I went home and started calling around to different pharmacies in the area, in hopes that someone might know of something that could help. Finally, I spoke with a pharmacist at an independent pharmacy in my community. She told me about a new product his pharmacy is now carrying, MEDCOAT.
MEDCOAT is this coating that covers pills and helps them slide down the throat smoothly and it also helps to cover up any bad tastes. Well, this I had to try! I ran over to his pharmacy and purchased the MEDCOAT and some allergy pills. I immediately went home and pushed the pills through the very easy-to-use applicator and gave them to the kids. They both took the pills and didn’t gag or choke and there were no complaints about the taste. Win-win!! They finally started to feel better and now pill time is a breeze! Thanks, MEDCOAT, and thanks to the pharmacist who recommended it!!
