Arthritis Causes Enough Pain, You Shouldn’t Have to Worry About the Pain from Swallowing Your Pills
May is National Arthritis Awareness Month, so isn’t it fitting that I’m celebrating by recovering from a double hip replacement due to severe deterioration of my bones from osteoarthritis. My hips were so bad doctors would literally do a double-take looking at the scans and then at me. You see, the x-rays and scans showed the hips of a 70-year-old, not an athlete in her 40s. Heart Health is Vital for Healthy Living, but so is Being Able to Swallow the Medicines Needed to Maintain that Heart Health
Life turned upside down a few years ago when my dad had a heart attack. He was out on his daily walk with the dog when he became very tired and short of breath. After having bypass surgery, he was prescribed several medications he will have to take for the rest of his life, such as Eliquis, used to treat and prevent blood clots; Atorvastatin, to reduce the risk of angina, stroke, heart attack, and heart and blood vessel issues; and Metoprolol Tartrate, a beta blocker that treats heart failure and lowers the risk of death after a heart attack.
